Bridging the Digital Divide

 

As we’re sure you’re all aware both education & life in general has become more digital during this pandemic - but not all homes have (enough) devices to support working from home, online learning and communicating via video call!

We’re working with Food Aware CIC to help bridge the digital divide!

 

We've already had a couple of laptops and iPads donated which we’re in the process of rebuilding to distribute back out to the community - and we’ve been connecting with local schools to understand and support pupils who need additional equipment to effectively learn online.

 

However, we are asking that anyone who has any old phones, tablets, laptops of gaming consoles etc lying around think about donating them so they can repurposed and sent back out into the community.

 

We can either arrange safe non-contact collection or devices can be dropped at Northgate Community Hub - just message us for details.

All devices donated will be wiped, factory reset and PAT tested before being repurposed.

 

We’re looking for the following:

• internet enabled phones (with or without a charger)

• laptops including chargers

• mobile hotspot devices (without SIM cards)

• Gaming consoles - the newer models allow us to install Microsoft Software to support home learning

 

All donations will be greatly received and will help support so many families.
